How To Publish a New Tour Over an Old Tour
Sometimes a business updates its space and the Street View images on Google become outdated. If the original tour was published by you, GoThru allows you to replace the old images with a new tour using the new backend.
This guide explains the recommended workflow and how to handle extra or duplicate images detected on Google.
Step 1: Create a New Tour
- In GoThru, create a new tour for the same business.
- Make sure the tour uses the same Place ID / CID and location as the existing Street View tour on Google.
Before creating a new tour, choose one of the following approaches:
Option 1: Update the existing tour (recommended)
- Upload new panoramas into the existing tour on GoThru.
- Edit, delete, or replace old images as needed.
- Moderate and publish the updated images.
Option 2: Delete and recreate the tour
- Delete the entire old tour from GoThru.
- Create a brand‑new tour using the same CID.
Important Notes
- You cannot have multiple tours on the same CID.
- You can publish the same tour to multiple CIDs, but not multiple tours to the same CID.
Step 2: Upload and Prepare the New Images
- Upload the new 360° panoramas.
- Use the Moderator to:
- Connect panoramas
- Fix headings
- Verify navigation and positioning
Step 3: Publish the New Tour to Google
- Go to Publish to Street View.
- Start publishing the tour.
- Wait until the publishing status shows Published.
At this stage, the new images are live on Google, but older images may still exist.
Step 4: Open Street View Info (SV Info)
- Open the published tour.
- Go to SV Info.
Important: Nothing is automatically deleted from Google.
SV Info scans Google Street View and checks whether there are extra panoramas on Google that were published by the same account but are not present in the current GoThru tour.
- If such images are detected, GoThru will display an action button.
- If no eligible images are found, no deletion option will appear.
Step 5: Delete Old Images (If Available)
- If GoThru detects older images published by the same account that are no longer part of the current tour, you will see a Delete Old Images button.
- This button appears only when eligible images are detected.
Click the button to delete the outdated Street View images from Google.
This safely replaces the old tour with the new one.
